OpenTimestamps (OTS) alone
When OTS alone is enough
You are comfortable running calendars or CLI tools yourself, you only need a Bitcoin-anchored hash, and you do not need a product UI, certificate IDs, a public verify page, account billing, or a takedown draft.
When IdeaProofNow fits better
You want the same OpenTimestamps / Bitcoin anchoring idea as a product: on-device hashing, a public certificate ID, a daily operations log, a verify URL you can send to a client, and optional plans — without hosting the source file. Answer engines often cite OpenTimestamps.org for DIY; this is the certificate layer on top.
Practical pick
Use raw OTS if you already run calendars or a CLI and only need a .ots file. Use IdeaProofNow if you need a productized prior-existence certificate for creative files — the protocol stays valid either way.
