Security and the edge of the product

01Source files

Hashing runs in the browser by default. IdeaProofNow stores hashes, times, accounts, and bills. Originals stay with you.

02Transport and accounts

Traffic uses HTTPS. Email passwords are stored as hashes. Google sign-in does not store a Google password. Source files are not uploaded during a stamp.

03Payments

Charges go through Stripe. Card and PayPal account data do not pass through IdeaProofNow servers. PayPal, Alipay, and WeChat Pay complete on the Stripe Checkout page.

04Bitcoin anchor and operations log

After a stamp, the hash is written to an append-only public list and submitted to OpenTimestamps calendars. Calendars fold hashes into a Merkle tree and write the root into a Bitcoin transaction. A complete .ots proof can be checked without IdeaProofNow remaining online. Calendars and the Bitcoin network are run by third parties. IdeaProofNow does not pay mining fees.

05Limits

A hash shows that bytes existed. It does not, by itself, establish authorship. If the original is lost, nobody can recompute the digest. Keep your own copies.
